About Lawrence Ong
In 2010, after more than a decade of teaching mathematics in primary schools, Mr. Lawrence Ong made the decision to resign from MOE. That same year, he joined Mind Stretcher Learning Centre, where he taught Math to Primary 3 to Primary 6 students from 2010 to June 2016. Under his guidance, many students achieved excellent results, scoring A’s and A*s in their PSLE Mathematics exams.
During his teaching journey, Mr. Ong observed that many students struggled to keep up with their schoolwork due to the increasing demands of the MOE syllabus. He also noticed that some students were unable to access quality tuition and enrichment lessons due to financial constraints.
Driven by a desire to make a difference, Mr. Ong founded both Math Learning Groups (MLGs) and Heuristics Mind. These initiatives aim to bridge the learning gap by providing average-ability students with the support they need to keep up with their schoolwork and perform on par with their peers. Moreover, tuition fees are intentionally kept affordable, ensuring that no student is deprived of the opportunity to learn from an experienced and NIE-trained educator.
